yes, i'm talking to you

Do you ever feel like you are talking to a wall?
You've probably heard the expression before, but do you ever talk to someone face to face and feel as though even though they hear you, they are not listening; or sense that, yes, they did see your text, or read your email etc., but they aren't going to respond. This happens to me often, and after a while I stop caring and have a great desire to just not talk anymore tho those that do this to me (an assumption).. is it wrong? I don't know, but the way I see it is this: If I want your opinion ,I will ask, someone to just listen to me rant about whatever oh so important experience that I have just gone through, or even just to catch up, I will ask... I don't like to waste time, mine or yours. If you don't want to lend me your ear or opinion, that's fine too... but tell me.
Maybe its just me, ..no actually.. it probably IS just me, I have this idea that everyone will treat me how I treat them, but in reality, it is not at all true. Even if I explain to someone how I like something, they have their own way of doing things and wont (most of the time) change to meet my requests. And why should they?...  the better question is, WHY do I??
why do I respond to how you are feeling at the expense of my own?
